Welcome

I wanted to assure everyone that through the grace of the Holy Spirit, Fr. Dan's sure guidance and well laid foundation; Subiaco Retreat House will continue to offer youth a place to discover and renew a deeper relationship with Christ, others, and themselves. The basic format here on the hill will remain the same. Many of the other monks will become involved in several sessions during the weekend retreats and our Confirmation retreats, giving talks, offering mass, etc. This I am sure will be a great experience for all of us.

It is my hope to better utilize technologies to get you the information you need and streamline the reservation process. Between email, Facebook, Google calendar and the website this should become a bit easier to manage. But please don't hesitate to call me if you have questions or concerns. See below for helpful info links to our phone, email , and website

***Important***

I have begun to go through the reservation book and have confirmed the first several weeks of the season. Fr. Dan had his own shorthand for noting details, this has proved a bit tricky to interpret. It seems he would do preliminary planning by using last years dates and penciling in possible dates. So, I would ask all youth directors to send me an email with any dates you might have already given to Dan or possible dates.

Those of you who have had roughly the same weekend for years I am sure he has placed you there but please help by emailing me. The emails will help me better establish a contact list. I have many of you already but the info is limited and may be out of date. So also include any contact information you would like to share.

I am planning a refresh on the Subiaco website, but for now the most up to date info can be found here on Facebook or the website.

Resting on the highest natural point in Oakland County,Michigan is a haven for young people to gather and reconnect with their faith in God, themselves, and each other. For over 30 years Subiaco Retreat House located on the grounds of St. Benedict Monastery in Oxford, Michigan has been serving the youth of the greater Detroit metropolitan area.

Subiaco is a Catholic community facilitated by an experienced staff of Benedictine monks and lay people.  We offer weekend and weekday retreats for parish youth groups and high schools. In the past few years our Confirmation retreat program has grown in popularity. Confirmation retreats are geared toward parish religious education programs. The retreat house is also available for other religious and educational groups.

Named for a place in Italy where a young St. Benedict sought refuge and escape from the chaos and materialism of the crumbling Roman Empire, Subiaco is a place where today's youth can get a much needed escape from the ever increasing pace of their lives.

It is no secret that now more than ever it is important for our youth to step back, relax, and rekindle their relationship with Jesus Christ, who promised to always be with us.

Subiaco is a place of peace, quiet, and prayer where young people can mature their spiritual life in an atmosphere of comfort and hospitality.  Many who have visited and participated in a Subiaco retreat comment how there is just something about this place that makes them more aware of the presence of God.
